Interview howlers

Here is part 1 of interview howlers.  These are actual answers to, actual interview questions.

  1. Why do you want this Job? – My Dad said at 23 is was time I moved out
  2. So your CV says you are a proactive go getter – what does that mean to you? – I dunno my sister wrote my CV.
  3. So what would those closest do you say was your best asset? - My boyfriend says I have great boobs.
  4. So why should I hire you over the other people I am seeing? - Dunno really, I don’t know the other people you are interviewing.
  5. I don’t think you have the right attitude to be in sales, any thoughts? – Well I don’t really care ! I am starting my own business next year and then I won’t have to worry about selling anything.
  6. So why do you want to work here? – ‘That’s a good question. I really haven’t given it much thought.
  7. Interviewer : So what made you apply for this job? – Job seeker: I saw the advert online.  Which ad’? - The one for the job you are advertising!  Which Job ? - The one I saw online.
  8. (Hobbies and interests listed Football) So which Football team do you support? – None I hate football, they are mostly overpaid prima donna’s
  9. So why are you leaving your current Job? – My manager is a cock, most managers are to be honest!
  10. (Profile described as hungry & career focused) What would be your dream Job? – One where I can come in when I want and leave when I want.

It makes you wonder, do people actually think what they are saying before they speak or just blurt out the first thing that come into their head?

    I still laugh at the fact that when i took my interview at McDonalds, they asked “where do you see your career going with us?”. I did my best to not say “Are you kidding me? A career in McDonalds?!?”. Needless to say, i got the job and my “career” was the worst experience i’ve ever had in employment.

    I think some people take the statement “go in there and be yourself” a little too seriously in my opinion.

    When interviewing a prospective temp, I asked what she considered to be her main strengths/attributes. Her answer? “I’m very slim and very attractive…”. Sure, she was both. However, on this occasion, her confidence didn’t work out for her.

    I have one other. But I don’t want to ‘smut’ your blog up. Let’s just say it was pretty bad. And was about body odour. I agree with Sabian; be yourself, unless being yourself means you’re really, really, REALLY…. silly.

    I worked in Mc Donalds & set a record of selling 27 Extra large drinks in one afternoon. Previously they’d sold 3 in 12 months. Was the first time I knew I was destined to be in business / sales :>… So you went from Burger builder to Web site builder, do you think you picked up some transferable skills?

    It was a mix of the two really, I just thought she had come to the wrong place. However, I saw her on tv in a shampoo ad recently so she got it right in the end. Damn her and her prettiness and slimness. Who got the last laugh there?! I’m writing about it she’s off being paid for being a fox! Haha.
